I have a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Certificate from the University of East Anglia and a Foundation Skills certificate in Counselling. I am currently back at the UEA studying for a Bsc in Psychology, and am a student member of the British Psychological Society. In addition to the very rewarding work I did for the Citizens Advice Bureau as a Generalist Advisor, I have also held a Flying Instructor Rating, and Commercial Pilot's Licence, and taught people to fly light aircraft. My varied background assists me in helping you with a variety of problems.
Hypnotherapy is now rightfully taking a more mainstream place in healing, as people are becoming more aware of the beneficial effect it can have on their lives. It is important it continues to develop in a positive way with due regard to the rights of clients, allowing them to trust their hypnotherapist as they would their doctor, with normal medical confidentiality.
Momentum is building to enable thorough self-regulation throughout the Complementary Healthcare Industry within the fairly recently established Complementary Healthcare National Council, (CHNC) which oversees many different therapies. Bodies such as the National Council for Hypnotherapy oversee comprehensive training schemes with relevant qualifications, and clients are free to inspect certificates to satisfy yourself about the quality of treatment you will receive.
Combining Neuro-Linguistic Programming with Cognitive Hypnotherapy brings even better results. NLP is the art and science of using language in a positive way to allow the development of a more useful attitude in your life. For instance, if I say to you, 'Don't think of a pink elephant with yellow spots' what did you think of? but I asked you not to! As you have just discovered, the subconscious does not recognise a negative, so when you say to yourself, ' I must not eat that cake' your unconscious only hears 'eat that cake' and so you fight yourself, hard work and ultimately unsuccessful. Learning to think and speak positively has beneficial effects on your life in many ways. This has strong connections too, with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Thought Field Therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique are systems of tapping acupressure points in a specific order to diminish or remove distressing emotions, whilst the memory remains. It can be very quick in effect, and you will be taught how to use it at home, with a reminder card to keep, to stop or minimise problems, such as cravings, panic attacks or traumatic memories.
Hypnotherapy is generally a relaxing comfortable experience, it changes the brain waves to a low slow form, similar to meditation, quite different to normal sleep, though having similar restorative powers. It allows you to assimilate positive ideas for your well being in such a way that you find yourself accessing resources of your own unconscious mind that up to now, have been hidden from you.
It allows you ultimately to take control of both your unconscious and conscious mind, enabling them to work together in unison, so developing your full potential, giving you the ability to feel comfortable and fulfilled in your life using Hypnosis.
